Experience the unique emulsion of Svema Hi-Speed Foto 400! Direct and fresh from Eastern Europe to The Film Photography Project Store. Hand-rolled by Leslie Lazenby and Michael Raso of the Film Photography Podcast.
Foto 400 is a high speed black-and-white panchromatic camera film for both outdoor and indoor usage. Its wide exposure latitude makes it especially suitable for use under low light illumination and difficult light conditions. Film is a very good choice for landscapes, offering good separation of green shades and its high contrast and red sensitivity is perfect when you want to shoot under bad light conditions too.
The film is coated onto a polyester base and must be loaded and unloaded under subdued light to avoid light leaks. Please load in dim light and store in a dark camera bag before and after shooting. If storing your film in fridge, freezer or home shelf, store in a light tight bag as well. What is light piping? Read our blog by Leslie Lazenby.
Notes from Svema film shooter Leslie Lazenby:
"Svema Foto 400 has a thin polyester base, is panchromatic, is true 400 speed and dries super flat. I home-processed in Xtol stock - 7 minutes @ 68 degrees, 5 seconds agitation twice every minute. (Michael Raso's home process has been Kodak D-76 - stock - 6 minutes @ 68 degrees)"
