Black Cat Exposure Guide

The Black Cat Extended Range Exposure Guide is comprehensive and easy to use method for choosing proper exposure with both film and digital cameras .

The guide includes a manual, Universal Light Code sheet, and Scene Brightness List which extends scene listings to over 135 scenes. This tri-fold water-resistant guide measures 3 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches when folded. The back of the guide has a photographic gray card that measures 3 x 5 1/2 inches. Taking photographs with a digital camera or on film requires the correct exposure. When shooting film or digital, the same rules and principles of light, speed, aperture and film speed (ISO) still apply.

Many photographers assume that exposure is not a problem with automatic cameras since your results can be seen quickly. While this is an advantage, it still is necessary to get your exposure in the "ballpark" or extensive testing, reviewing and time will be required (while your batteries take a hit). This guide gives you a much needed starting point for evaluating and adjusting your exposure. The Black Cat is designed for use with all color print, slide, black and white films and digital cameras with manual controls. You also can use the guide to supplement your camera's exposure meter, your hand held meter, or a spot meter. In addition, the guide has extended exposure settings to prevent it from becoming obsolete because of changes in technology.

What customers are saying:

"The black cat exposure guide delivers everything it promises and more. The great thing about it is that it really makes you think about your exposure choices and you start to learn about lighting. With some practice it allows you to use a camera without a built in light meter with great results. Interchanging shutter speed, aperture and ISO speed becomes very easy because with a minor twist of the dial you can see what the effects are of changing each. These things should be obvious if you are experienced but for a non-pro occassional photographer they really help a lot. I really enjoy this product." - Adrian J. Geekie

"This is a must have for beginners or advance photographers. This has been useful on many occasions when I needed it most. I would love to say thank you to the company that made these. One word AWESOME!" - Samantha Gallup

"This is a quick and easy way to get a great exposure without spending a lot of money on a exposure meter. I leave it in my camera bag." - Mona H.
