  • $80.00

DEVELOP / SCAN SERVICE - 35mm Movie Film (Each quantity chosen = 100 feet film)

Note: If you need additional items (i.e. film or other FPP products), please order them separately. Otherwise, other items ordered will ship when your Develop/Scan is complete).

IMPORTRANT - Follow the steps below and read all the info on this page before ordering. Please only place your order when you are ready to send your film in for service! We can not provide service if you do not follow the STEPS below.

Your Steps:

  1. Place your order on product page. Do not mail your film without placing an order first.
  2. Download your Film Form - A filled-out FILM FORM must be included with your exposed film. Download the form HERE. Please note you must include FPP Film Form in your package with your film or we will not be able to process your order.
  3. Where to mail your film -  Our address is on the Film Form.
  4. CHOOSE RESOLUTION - The default resolution is HD (1920x1080). You can use the drop-down above to choose a higher resolution. Note that higher (2k or 4k) resolution does not increase the quality or color grade of your scan. Higher resolution choices (2k or 4k) only give you larger pixels and file size. Unless you are working in a 2k or 4k edit environment, HD is recommended (and most cost effective). If you have specific requests or file types that you need, please include this info on your film form.
  5. Aspect ratio - By default we scan the entire frame 16x9 including sprockets (if your frame is 4x3). Super 16 and Ultra 16 image will fill the entire 16x9 frame. If you'd like your film matted a certain way (i.e. pillar boxed or letter boxed or other), let us know on the FPP Film Form.
  6. File Type - Service includes mp4 resolution files. Other file type outputs upon request. If you have different specs or output preference include the info on your Film Form that you submit with your film.
  7. How is my film scanned? Your film is scanned on our LaserGraphics ScanStation /  DaVinci Resolve Color Grading (Best Light)

FPP Steps:

  1. CHECK IN - We will email you upon check-in of your film, typically within a few business days of arrival but on occasion this may take longer.
  2. SERVICES - We will email you with your scan file download link upon completion of services. Please note that while film scanning color grading is performed at our headquarters, we use partner labs for processing and their turnaround may impact our schedule.
  3. Turnaround - Turn around (once we check in your film) is approximately 4-6 weeks from start to finish.
  4. Film Return - We return your developed film approx. 4 weeks after completion of service. We hold on to the developed film roll(s) so that you can check your scan to ensure that everything is correct.

Service Limitation - Once you place your order, immediately send your film in for service. This service becomes VOID after 60 days from the date of purchase. (Avoid your order becoming void by only ordering service when you're ready to send in your film for developing / scanning). Only purchase the service that you need. (For example, if you purchase three develop/scan orders, make sure you send your three rolls in one package for service. Orders can not be split up over time)

The Fine Print - When you submit your film assets to Film Photography Project (FPP) for scanning or handling of any kind you agree to the fullest extent of the law to  indemnify, defend, and hold harmless FPP, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against all claims, losses, liabilities and damages of any kind, including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees, arising from or relating in any way to your use of our services, or any violation of these Terms, any law, or any rights of any third party, including when the active or passive negligence of  FPP is alleged or proven.

Shooter Error – it’s a fact that user error and / or malfunctioning vintage cameras can result in under, overexposed, blank film, jiggly lines due to a bad film gate/improper loading/malfunctioning camera. In the event we are unable to retrieve an image or correct an issue after scanning, we will provide you with feedback at the time we deliver your file.

The Lab - We would like you to be aware that we partner with one or more reputable outside labs for the processing portion of your package. For this portion of services, we only offer replacement of raw materials in case of transit loss or lab damage. If you are working on an important project, we recommend Production Insurance.

Sh*t Happens - Your media is very important to you, and we take every precaution to ensure the safety of your film while they are at our facility.  However, sometimes the unpredictable happens during shipping to and from our facility, or while a service is being provided.  Our commitment to you, is that if any item is lost or damaged by us while at our facility, we will replace it with an item of equivalent amount.  To ensure you are protected above and beyond our replacement of the raw materials, we strongly suggest you acquire insurance.  To ensure you are protected during the shipping of the items, please insure your packages.
